# Use date ranges and filters

> Change the comparison window and focus every Search Console panel on the same query, page, country, or device scope.

This guide documents current CrawlRaven v2 behavior. UI labels are written exactly where relevant. Bounded Search Console rows are evidence, not guaranteed exhaustive totals.

## Choose a date range

Select the calendar control above a Search Console report. The date menu is organized into rolling windows, calendar periods, extended history, and a custom range.

| Group | Available choices |
| --- | --- |
| Rolling window | Latest day; last 7, 14, 28, or 90 days. |
| Calendar period | Last week, this month, last month, this quarter, last quarter, or year to date. |
| Extended history | Last 6, 8, or 12 months, and last 16 months. |
| Custom range | Choose From and To dates within the available reporting history. |

*Date presets and custom ranges change the full report, not only the chart.*

## Understand comparison behavior

For a normal reporting window, CrawlRaven compares the selected period with the immediately preceding period of the same length. Changing the date range recalculates every KPI delta and row trend.

> **A trend belongs to its date range:** A query can be Growing over 28 days and Declining over 90 days. Trend labels are not a permanent status; they describe the current comparison only. The 16-month view has no preceding comparison, so trend controls are disabled.

## Add report filters

Select `Add filter`, configure one or more dimensions, and choose `Apply filters`. Active filters appear as removable chips above the report.

- **Query:** Contains, Exactly matches, or Does not contain the entered text.
- **Page:** Contains, Exactly matches, or Does not contain the entered URL or path text.
- **Country:** Choose a country returned by Search Console; the filter is exact.
- **Device:** Choose desktop, mobile, tablet, or Any.

*Query, page, country, and device filters scope KPIs, chart data, query rows, and page rows together.*

## Remove or share a filtered view

- Select an active filter chip to remove only that filter.
- Select `Clear all` to return to the default 90-day, unfiltered report.
- Selecting a query or page in a dashboard panel creates an exact filter automatically.
- The date range and filters live in the URL, so copying the browser URL preserves the report scope for another authorized user.

> **Start broad, then narrow:** First identify the date of a change on the unfiltered chart. Then add a page, country, or device filter one at a time. This makes it easier to see which filter actually explains the movement.
