What Is Domain Authority?

Domain Authority (DA) is a metric developed by Moz that predicts how likely a website is to rank in search results, scored on a scale of 1-100. Ahrefs has a similar metric called Domain Rating (DR). Neither is a Google ranking factor, but both correlate with ranking ability.

Why Domain Authority matters for SEO

Higher domain authority indicates stronger ranking potential across all pages on your site. DA/DR is determined primarily by the quantity and quality of backlinks from other websites. It's a useful competitive benchmarking metric for comparing your site's authority against competitors.
