SEOmonitor Review: You Are Buying the Forecast, Not the Rank Tracker

SEOmonitor pricing starts at €99/mo, verified August 2026. An honest look at the forecast agencies buy it for, the rank data, and what beats SEO Monitor.

Aditi ChaturvediAugust 4, 2026
TL;DR

SEOmonitor is an agency-first SEO platform built around something most rank trackers never attempt: a forecast you can put in front of a client. Pricing starts at €99/month, verified against seomonitor.com in August 2026.

  • Rating: 4.0/5. Excellent at forecasting, daily rank data, and agency workflow. Deliberately narrow almost everywhere else.
  • Pricing: Writer-only €25/mo, Starter €99/mo for 1,000 tracked keywords, Pro €299/mo for 3,000 keywords scaling past 200,000. Annual billing is 17% off, and there is a 14-day trial with no credit card.
  • The differentiator: SEO Forecasting: CTR curves split by device, deseasonalised search volumes, a blended Google plus AI Overviews click model, and a Chance Indicator scoring how likely each target rank is.
  • The gaps: No backlink index, no deep technical audit, and add-ons that move the bill: €49 per 1,000 daily-checked keywords and €10 per extra GA and Search Console connection.
  • Better than SEO Monitor?: Nightwatch for cheaper daily rank data, SE Ranking for an agency all-in-one, Semrush or Ahrefs for research depth, CrawlRaven for the fix list under the ranking chart.

The rest of this review covers how the forecast actually works, what a year really costs, and who should skip it.

SEOmonitor is one of the few SEO platforms honest about what it sells: a business case, not a dashboard. This review covers the forecasting module, verified August 2026 pricing in euros, the real third-party ratings, and where the platform stops. Try CrawlRaven free: 1 site, no credit card →

Every agency I know has a version of the same spreadsheet: keywords in column A, a target position in column B, and a CTR table pasted from a 2019 blog post doing all the work in column C. That spreadsheet is what SEOmonitor productised, and it is the reason the tool exists.

So the honest framing for this SEOmonitor review is that you are not really buying a rank tracker. You are buying a forecast you can defend in a pitch room, and everything else on the platform is there to keep that forecast fed.

The verdict up front

SEOmonitor scores 4.0 out of 5. It is the best forecasting tool in commercial SEO software and a genuinely good daily rank tracker, priced for agencies rather than individuals. I score reviewed tools on five criteria:

  • Core job performance: how well it does the thing it is built for, here forecasting and rank data.
  • Breadth: how much of an SEO workflow it covers without a second subscription.
  • Pricing transparency and value: whether you can price it without a call, and what the real annual number is.
  • Workflow fit: setup time, seat economics, reporting, and whether a team can live in it.
  • Third-party sentiment: verified G2 and Capterra ratings, linked below.

Key Takeaways

  • Buy it for the forecast: CTR curves by device, deseasonalised volumes, a blended Google plus AI Overviews click model, and a Chance Indicator on every target rank.
  • Pricing is public and in euros: Starter €99/mo for 1,000 keywords, Pro €299/mo for 3,000, Writer-only €25/mo. 17% off annual, 14-day trial, no credit card (verified August 2026).
  • Seats are free, data is not: Unlimited users, API, and exports on Pro. But daily rank checks cost €49 per 1,000 keywords and extra GA and Search Console connections are €10 each.
  • It is not an audit tool: No backlink index and no deep crawl. If the deliverable is a prioritised fix list, CrawlRaven does that join from a one-time $49 at launch.

What is SEOmonitor?

SEOmonitor is a unified SEO and AI search tracking platform built for agencies. It was founded in Bucharest by Cosmin Negrescu, and the product grew out of his own SEO agency, which is the single most useful fact for understanding the software.

The origin story shows up everywhere in the interface. The four-step workflow the company sells is drafting a campaign with a forecast, winning the client, executing with content tools, then proving return on investment. That is an agency's year, not a toolset.

  • Who it is aimed at: digital agencies first, with enterprise brands including Vodafone, Publicis, Marks & Spencer, and Gymshark named as customers.
  • Delivery model: pure SaaS, browser-based, with unlimited API access and a Looker Studio connector on the Pro plan.
  • The core promise: one place for Google, AI Overviews, and AI assistant performance, joined to the traffic and conversion data that makes it a business conversation.

SEOmonitor's key features

The platform splits into a data layer and a workflow layer. Here is what each module actually does, with the honest assessment attached:

  • Rank Tracker. Daily full top-100 tracking on every keyword, powered by what SEOmonitor calls Dynamic Depth Crawling. Full-depth daily data is genuinely rare at this price point, though daily checks are metered as an add-on.
  • AI Overviews tracking. Which of your tracked queries trigger an AI Overview, and how that changes the click reality behind a position. This feeds the forecast rather than sitting in its own silo, which is the right design.
  • AI Search tracking. Visibility across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. Priced separately from standard keywords, so budget for it rather than assuming it is included.
  • Organic traffic and conversions. Google Analytics and Search Console connections tie rankings to sessions and conversions. One connection is included on Starter and extras are €10 each, which is the kind of small fee that adds up across a client roster.
  • Keyword research. Unrestricted research with a Keyword Vault on Pro. Competent, but not the reason anyone switches to this platform.
  • Content Audit. Finds optimisation opportunities on pages you already rank with. Useful, and clearly scoped as a content exercise rather than a technical crawl.
  • AI Content Writer. Connected to your campaign keywords and audit opportunities, with 10 articles a month on Starter. Better integrated than most bolt-on writers, and still not why you would buy this.
  • Agency Dashboard and APIs. Portfolio view across clients, unlimited API access on Pro, plus a Looker Studio connector and MCP access for teams building their own reporting.
  • SEO Forecasting. The reason to read the rest of this review.

SEO forecasting: the module agencies actually buy

SEOmonitor's forecasting module answers the only question a prospective client cares about: if you do this work, what is it worth? You add keywords, set target positions and a timeframe, and get estimated sessions, conversions, and revenue back.

SEO Forecasting

How SEOmonitor turns a keyword list into a pitch

01Inputs you supply
Roughly five minutes of setup, per SEOmonitor's own claim.
  • Keyword list (imported or researched in-app)
  • Target ranking positions per keyword
  • Campaign timeframe
02What the model applies
The part agencies are actually paying for.
  • CTR curves split by keyword type and device
  • Device-specific search volumes, deseasonalised
  • Blended Google + AI Overviews CTR for zero-click SERPs
  • Chance Indicator: difficulty, topical authority, content focus, current rank
03What comes out
A business case, not a ranking chart.
  • Estimated incremental sessions over the timeframe
  • Estimated conversions and revenue
  • Keyword-level contribution breakdown
  • Pitch-ready export for the client deck
Module capabilities read off seomonitor.com, verified August 2026. A forecast is a modelled projection, not a guarantee: the Chance Indicator scores likelihood, it does not remove risk.

The company claims a forecast is ready in about five minutes across three steps. What separates it from a spreadsheet is the modelling underneath, and that is worth being specific about:

  • CTR curves, not a CTR table. Click-through rates vary by keyword type and by device rather than a single flat curve applied to everything. See our CTR glossary entry for why one curve for all queries is the classic forecasting error.
  • Device-split volumes. Mobile and desktop clicks are estimated separately from device-specific search volumes.
  • Seasonality removed. Volumes account for seasonal trends and year-over-year change, and related terms are consolidated so the same demand is not counted twice.
  • A blended Google plus AI Overviews model. Clicks are discounted for zero-click SERPs, which is the difference between a 2019 forecast and a 2026 one.

What the Chance Indicator is doing

Chance Indicator: in plain English

A score for how likely you are to actually reach a target position, built from aggregated keyword difficulty, your topical authority, how focused your content is on that topic, and where you currently rank. It is the honesty check on your own forecast.

This is the part most forecasting spreadsheets skip entirely. Anyone can assume position 3 on every keyword and produce a beautiful number. The Chance Indicator makes you price that assumption.

Opinion· Aditi's take

I have sat on both sides of this pitch, and the forecast is the single most persuasive artefact in an SEO proposal. It is also the easiest one to fake.

What I respect about SEOmonitor is that it makes faking it harder. The Chance Indicator, the deseasonalised volumes, and the AI Overview discount all push the number down, not up, and a vendor that builds features which shrink its own headline figure has thought about the client relationship after the signature.

SEOmonitor pricing, verified August 2026

SEOmonitor publishes its prices, which already puts it ahead of most agency platforms. I read these off seomonitor.com in August 2026, and they are quoted in euros:

  • Writer-only: €25/month. Content generation only, scaling from 5 to 500+ articles a month.
  • Starter: €99/month. Based on 1,000 tracked keywords, one Google Analytics and Search Console connection, 10 AI Content Writer articles, and one tracked campaign.
  • Pro: €299/month. Based on 3,000 tracked keywords and scaling from 3,000 to 200,000+, with unlimited users, unlimited API access, unlimited exports, unlimited tracked competitors, draft campaigns, the Keyword Vault, MCP access, and the Looker Studio connector.
  • Annual billing: 17% off. That is roughly €82/month on Starter and €248/month on Pro.
  • Free trial: 14 days, no credit card. Full setup support is included, which matters on a platform this configuration-heavy.

What a year and three years actually cost

Run it out, because monthly prices hide the commitment. Every figure below is the published price multiplied out, not an estimate:

CrawlRaven lifetime licence, 3 sites$49 once (launch)$49 total

Those are not competing products, and I am not pretending they are. CrawlRaven is a one-time lifetime licence from $49 at launch, plus a free plan for 1 site. Lifetime pricing steps up as licenses sell, so check the pricing page for the current batch. See current pricing. It does the audit and prioritisation job, not the forecast.

Performance in practice

The rank data is the quiet strength. Full top-100 depth every day on all tracked keywords is a real technical commitment, and it is what makes the rest of the platform trustworthy: forecasts and traffic attribution are only as good as the position data underneath them.

Where the platform performs less obviously well is anywhere it competes with a specialist. Three specific limits worth knowing before a trial:

  • No backlink index. There is no link database of any kind. Link prospecting, gap analysis, and toxic-link review all happen somewhere else.
  • No deep technical crawl. The Content Audit surfaces on-page opportunities. It does not replace a crawler checking redirect chains, rendering, structured data, or AI crawler access.
  • Keyword volume caps shape behaviour. Because pricing is keyword-metered, teams ration what they track. That is a fair model, and it does mean the long tail of a large site tends to go unwatched.

Read together, the pattern is consistent: SEOmonitor is deep where agencies bill, and thin where agencies buy a second tool anyway.

Interface, setup, and the daily workflow

Setup is connection-led. You link Google Analytics and Search Console, import or research your keyword set, group it into campaigns, and the forecasting and traffic modules light up from there. Full setup support ships with the trial, which tells you something about the learning curve.

  • The good: reviewers consistently praise the interface as intuitive, with keyword grouping and in-app SERP analysis called out by name on G2.
  • The catch: Capterra scores ease of use at 4.4/5 against 4.9/5 for customer service, and one reviewer notes plainly that it takes time to learn all the features.
  • The seat economics: unlimited users on Pro means the whole team can live in it without a seat-fee conversation, which is rarer than it should be.

For agencies, the Agency Dashboard is the daily surface: portfolio-level performance across clients, with campaign drill-downs underneath. It is built for the account manager as much as the SEO.

Pros and cons

Pros
  • Best-in-class SEO forecasting: CTR curves by device, deseasonalised volumes, blended Google plus AI Overviews click modelling, and a Chance Indicator on every target
  • Daily full top-100 rank tracking via Dynamic Depth Crawling, included across plans
  • Public pricing from €99/month with a 14-day trial and no credit card required (verified August 2026)
  • No per-seat fees: unlimited users, unlimited API access, unlimited exports and competitors on Pro
  • AI Overviews and AI assistant tracking are folded into the same campaign view, not sold as a separate silo
  • Strong third-party sentiment: 4.8/5 on G2 and 4.5/5 on Capterra, with customer service rated 4.9/5
Cons
  • No backlink index at all, so link work needs a second subscription
  • No deep technical crawl: the Content Audit is an on-page exercise, not a site audit
  • Add-ons move the real bill: €49 per 1,000 keywords for daily checks, €10 per extra GA and Search Console connection, AI Search keywords priced separately
  • Euro-denominated pricing adds currency exposure for agencies billing in dollars or pounds
  • Thin review pools on both G2 and Capterra, so the high ratings rest on relatively few voices
  • Reviewers repeatedly call it expensive, and the learning curve is real enough that setup support is bundled

Who SEOmonitor is best for

The buyer profile is unusually specific, which is a compliment. Three situations where it is the right call:

  • Agencies that pitch on numbers. If your proposals live or die on a projected traffic and revenue case, the forecasting module is the product and it pays for itself on one won retainer.
  • Teams with many users and one budget. Unlimited seats on Pro removes the per-user maths that makes cheaper platforms expensive at scale.
  • In-house teams defending an SEO roadmap. The same business case that wins a pitch also wins a budget meeting, and the conversion data is already joined to the rankings.

Who should skip it

  • Freelancers and small shops. €1,188 a year at Starter, billed monthly, is a lot of tool for a book of work that closes on relationships.
  • Anyone whose bottleneck is links. There is no index here. Buy Ahrefs or Semrush for that job.
  • Teams that need a technical audit. A ranking chart is not a fix list, and SEOmonitor never claims otherwise.
  • Buyers who want everything in one seat. This is a specialist platform by design, so plan for a second subscription.

What reviewers say

Third-party ratings, checked in August 2026. Both review pools are small, so read the scores as strong sentiment rather than statistical weight:

  • G2: 4.8/5 from 28 reviews, with reviewers naming keyword categorisation and in-app SERP analysis as standouts.
  • Capterra: 4.5/5 from 8 reviews, with ease of use at 4.4/5, customer service at 4.9/5, features at 4.5/5, and value for money at 4.4/5.
What real users say about SEOmonitor
What users love

A really excellent tool that predicts what you need very well. Really solid data options with strategy hints provided.

Capterra · Christopher C., SEO Specialist
Common complaints

SEOmonitor is expensive, you can use their alternatives but they don't give valuable features.

Capterra · Mert D., Social Media Specialist

It will take time to learn all the features. Also its a bit expensive.

Capterra · Naveen P., Digital Marketing Associate

Notice that even the critical quotes concede the point: reviewers who call it expensive also say the alternatives do not give them the same features. That is a fair summary of the whole product.

Better than SEO Monitor: 5 alternatives, by job

“Better than SEO Monitor” is the wrong question until you name the job. Nothing on this list beats it at forecasting, and four of the five beat it at something else. Match the scenario to the pick:

Better than SEO Monitor?

Depends entirely on which job you were hiring it for

You only ever used the forecast to win pitches
Stay on SEOmonitorfrom €99/mo
Nothing else models CTR curves, seasonality, and a Chance Indicator into a client-ready business case
You want the rank data without the platform tax

Ahrefs$129/mo Lite

Prices as published by each vendor, checked August 2026. Amounts are quoted in the currency each vendor lists and are not currency-converted. CrawlRaven lifetime pricing steps up by batch; current price on the pricing page.

Nightwatch: the rank data without the platform

If what you actually use SEOmonitor for is the daily ranking chart, Nightwatch does that job from $39/month with daily updates, local and mobile granularity, and white-label reports. It has no forecasting module and a basic site audit, so you are trading the business case for a much smaller invoice. Full detail in our Nightwatch review.

SE Ranking: the agency all-in-one

The closest thing to a single-seat replacement for an agency stack. SE Ranking Core is $129/month and covers rank tracking, keyword research, site audits, and white-label client reporting in one place. The audit is shallower than a dedicated crawler, but the coverage per dollar is the best in this list. See our SE Ranking review.

Semrush: breadth SEOmonitor refuses

Semrush starts at $139.95/month and buys the opposite philosophy: everything, everywhere, at moderate depth. Competitive intelligence, a 26-billion keyword database, ads and content tooling, and a site audit that goes further than SEOmonitor's content-level pass. The catch is aggressive feature gating, covered in our Semrush review.

Ahrefs: the link index SEOmonitor does not have

If the gap you are feeling is backlinks, this is the answer rather than a general upgrade. Ahrefs Lite is $129/month for a 35-trillion-link index and the deepest keyword research in the category, with a bolt-on site audit and a credit system that frustrates people at every tier. Our Ahrefs review has the honest version.

CrawlRaven: the fix list under the forecast

Full transparency: CrawlRaven is our tool, and it does not forecast anything. It exists for the week after the pitch, when a projection has to become a work order:

  • The join: Google Search Console and GA4 (built-in, one-click OAuth, synced daily) merged with your imported Ahrefs or Semrush keyword lists and a 200-point technical crawl.
  • The output: one ranked plan of what to write, what to update, and what to fix first, with cannibalisation flags, decay tracking, and runner-up keywords sitting on page 2.
  • The audit depth trackers lack: 200 checks covering rendering, redirect chains, structured data, Core Web Vitals, and AI crawler access, each ranked by ranking impact rather than by how easy it was to detect.
  • The price: lifetime licences from a one-time $49 at launch, plus a free plan for 1 website with no credit card. Lifetime pricing steps up as licenses sell, so check the pricing page for the current batch. Current price on the pricing page.
  • Free stopgap: The forecast is built on Search Console data you already own. Our free GSC regex generator writes the query filters that segment that data by intent, which is the input SEOmonitor models for you.

The pairing that makes sense: SEOmonitor to win the account and model the upside, CrawlRaven to decide the order of work and ship the white-label report that proves it happened.

Frequently asked questions

Basics

  • What is SEOmonitor? An agency-first SEO and AI search tracking platform built around daily rank data, GA and Search Console traffic joins, and a forecasting module that turns target rankings into projected sessions, conversions, and revenue.
  • Does it track AI search? Yes. Google AI Overviews plus ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity visibility, with AI Search keywords priced separately. It does not audit whether AI crawlers can reach and render your pages, which is a technical job.
  • Does it do backlinks or a deep site audit? Neither. There is no link index, and the Content Audit is an on-page optimisation pass rather than a crawler.

Pricing

  • How much does SEOmonitor cost? Starter €99/month for 1,000 tracked keywords, Pro €299/month for 3,000 scaling past 200,000, and Writer-only €25/month. Annual billing is 17% off (verified August 2026).
  • What are the hidden costs? €10 per extra Google Analytics and Search Console connection, €49 per 1,000 keywords for daily rank checks, and separate pricing for AI Search keywords. Starter plus daily checks on its full 1,000 keywords is €148/month, or €1,776 a year.
  • Is there a free trial? Yes, 14 days with no credit card and setup support included. There is no permanently free tier. (CrawlRaven takes the other approach: a free plan for 1 site, no card, no call.)

Better than SEO Monitor

  • What is better than SEO Monitor for rank tracking alone? Nightwatch from $39/month gives you daily positions with local and mobile granularity for a fraction of the price, minus the forecast.
  • What is the best all-in-one replacement? SE Ranking at $129/month Core covers tracking, research, audits, and white-label reporting in one seat. For research depth instead, take Semrush at $139.95/month or Ahrefs Lite at $129/month.
  • Is anything better than SEO Monitor at forecasting? Not that I have found in a self-serve tool. That is the honest answer, and it is why the platform holds its price.
  • What covers the audit depth trackers lack? CrawlRaven joins Search Console, GA4, your keyword imports, and a 200-point crawl into one ranked plan, from a one-time $49 at launch.

Final verdict: is SEOmonitor worth it?

4.0 out of 5. SEOmonitor is worth it if the forecast is doing commercial work for you, and hard to justify if it is not. That is an unusually clean buying test, and I would rather give you that than a hedge.

  • Buy it if you pitch retainers on projected traffic and revenue, run a team that would otherwise pay per seat, or need daily full-depth rank data you can trust.
  • Skip it if you are a solo consultant, if your bottleneck is links or technical debt, or if you want one subscription to cover everything.
  • Pair it with an audit layer either way. A forecast tells you what winning is worth; it does not tell you which ten things to do on Monday.

If that last gap is the one you are feeling, CrawlRaven does the join SEOmonitor leaves open, and starts with a free plan for 1 site.

Frequently asked questions

What is SEOmonitor?

SEOmonitor is an SEO data and forecasting platform built specifically for agencies. It combines daily rank tracking across Google, AI Overviews, and AI assistants with organic traffic data pulled from Google Analytics and Search Console, keyword research, a content audit, an AI Content Writer, and its best-known module, SEO Forecasting. The company was founded in Bucharest by Cosmin Negrescu and grew out of his own SEO agency, which is why almost every workflow is shaped around pitching, retaining, and reporting to clients.

How much does SEOmonitor cost?

Verified on seomonitor.com in August 2026: Starter is €99/month based on 1,000 tracked keywords with one Google Analytics and Search Console connection, Pro is €299/month based on 3,000 tracked keywords and scales past 200,000, and a Writer-only plan is €25/month. Annual billing is advertised at 17% off, which puts Starter near €82/month and Pro near €248/month. Add-ons sit on top: €10 per extra GA and Search Console connection and €49 per 1,000 keywords for daily rank checks. There is a 14-day free trial with no credit card required.

Does SEOmonitor charge per user?

No. Unlimited users, unlimited API access, unlimited exports, and unlimited tracked competitors are included on the Pro plan, and the company positions this explicitly against per-seat pricing. You pay for data volume, mostly tracked keywords, rather than for seats or features. For an agency putting five or ten people into the same account, that removes the seat-fee maths that inflates the real cost of Moz, Ahrefs, and Semrush.

How accurate is SEOmonitor's SEO forecasting?

SEOmonitor does not publish an accuracy figure, and no honest reviewer can give you one either. What can be verified is the method: click-through-rate curves that vary by keyword type and device, device-specific search volumes with seasonality and year-over-year trends removed, a blended Google plus AI Overviews CTR model that accounts for zero-click results, and a Chance Indicator that scores how likely a target position is using keyword difficulty, topical authority, content focus, and current rankings. That is a more defensible model than the flat CTR table most agencies forecast with, but it is still a projection, not a promise.

Does SEOmonitor track AI search and AI Overviews?

Yes. As of August 2026 SEOmonitor tracks Google AI Overviews and AI search visibility across ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity alongside classic Google rankings, and it folds AI Overview click behaviour into its forecasting model. AI Search keywords are priced separately from standard tracked keywords. Note the distinction that matters: this tells you where you appear in AI answers, not whether AI crawlers can reach and render your pages in the first place, which is a technical audit job.

Does SEOmonitor do backlinks or technical site audits?

No backlink index at all, and only a light technical layer. SEOmonitor ships a Content Audit that finds optimisation opportunities on pages you already have, but it is not a crawler in the sense that Screaming Frog, Sitebulb, or CrawlRaven are. If your workflow needs link data or a deep technical audit, SEOmonitor is a tool you run alongside something else, not a replacement for it.

What is better than SEO Monitor for agencies?

It depends on which job you hired it for. For daily rank data at a lower price, Nightwatch starts at $39/month. For an agency all-in-one with white-label reporting, SE Ranking Core is $129/month. For competitive research breadth, Semrush starts at $139.95/month, and for backlinks Ahrefs Lite is $129/month. None of those four replaces the forecasting module, which remains SEOmonitor's genuine moat. And if the missing piece is the prioritised fix list under the ranking chart, CrawlRaven joins Search Console, GA4, imported keyword lists, and a 200-point crawl into one ranked plan from a one-time $49 at launch.

Is SEOmonitor worth it for a small agency or a freelancer?

Usually not at the low end. At €99/month for 1,000 keywords the Starter plan costs roughly €1,188 a year billed monthly, which is real money for a freelancer whose pitches close on relationships rather than modelled business cases. SEOmonitor earns its price when the forecast is doing sales work: if a single won retainer covers a year of the subscription, the maths is obvious. If you are mostly looking at ranking charts, a dedicated tracker does that for a third of the cost.
